This weapon holder from Maxpedition will affix to any bag, clothing, or gear that has a female Velcro panel. It is sold as a stand-alone item and not included in any Maxpedition gear (except for the Multi Purpose Bag – don’t know the explanation for this…). The basic logic seems to be that even though the bags are designed for concealed carry, since there are persons who choose not to carry or times that this is not the purpose of the gear – it’s not included.

Features
  • It functions more as a holder, not a holster – not meant for pistol quick draw; it just keeps your weapon in an accessible ready position
  • The size adjusts to accommodate most semi-automatics pistols but it’s not as good for revolvers
  • It’s primary use is for securing pistols in concealed carry pockets or facilitating organization inside gear bags
  • The CCW is compatible with all Velcro-paneled gear including non-Maxpedition Gear – a popular use is with Velcro-paneled 511 clothing.
Notes of Interest
  • If you have a weapon-mounted light, you could have trouble with smooth draw – so I wouldn’t recommend it – having it in a ready position but unable to get it out without wrestling with it … not such a good idea
  • Instructions (for the Velcro-challenged):
    • When setting the loop strap, lay pistol against the non-Velcro side and loosely wrap strap around trigger guard then engage the Velcro to close the loop
    • Test to make sure pistol smoothly exits the holder
    • When affixing holder in ready position in gear, have the pistol already in the holder, place your hand or a piece of paper against the Velcro on the holder, move the weapon into desired position, remove hand/paper then press firmly against female Velcro panel
    • Test to make sure pistol still smoothly exits the holder and also the pocket/gear – if not repeat Steps 1 and 3
  • For the non-Velcro challenged, you probably already figured this next tidbit out; when your brand new Universal CCW shows up in its pretty, new packaging – IT’S INSIDE OUT! (this is a manufacturing/packaging artifact). Just release the Velcro and start from Step 1.

Manufacturer’s Description:

The Universal CCW Holster attaches with hook side velcro to loop velcro sewn in various Maxpedition packs. 2" retention strap can be adjusted for a snug fit to your weapon.

The Universal CCW Holster is equipped with “hook” fasteners. Compatible packs have compartments equipped with “pile”. First adjust the loop of the holster so it fits your firearm securely. To adhere the holster to the bag, simply press the “hook” side of the holster onto the “pile” field inside the pack. Position as desired to facilitate draw.

If your Universal CCW Holster is delivered with the loop flipped backwards, simply reverse it. We do this to prevent the hook from abrading other items while in the factory.
